It is usually the most mouth-watering dishes that take the longest to prepare– but as high schoolers, we don’t have time for that, so instead here are 3 simplified and healthier alternatives to our favorite classics! Here are three sweet recipes that take anywhere from thirty to forty-five minutes each to prepare. Enjoy!
First off, we need to start with one of the all time tastiest baked goods: Brownies! Brownie recipes can be very versatile depending on how sugary, gooey, or soft you prefer them- but either way you get the same delicious result
35 minutes Serves 10-12 Easy steps!
1 cup butter, melted (coconut oil as healthier alternative)
2 cups of white sugar (coconut sugar as healthier alternative)
½ cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 large eggs
1 ½ cups of all purpose flour (almond flour healthier alternative)
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup walnut halves (optional)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
Combine all the 8 ingredients, and
Spread the batter into medium Grease pan
Bake in preheated oven for 20-30 mins, or
insert toothpick to check for readiness
2) The next recipe is a classic chocolate chip cookie, everyone’s favorite go-to baked good! This recipe is much easier and time manageable while still maintaining the sweet taste: reimagined by Cookie and Kate, with so many different hacks and tricks to prepare a good choco chip this is by far the quickest and healthiest recipe:
30 mins Serves 5-7 Easy bake!
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¾ teaspoon baking soda
½ sea salt
1 ¼ cups chocolate chips
⅔ cup coconut sugar or ½ cup brown sugar
½ cup sugar
½ cup + additional tbsp melted coco oil or extra-virgin olive oil
¼ cup + additional tbsp water
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to combine then shortly add chocolate chips.
In a large bowl combine the coconut sugar, regular sugar, oil, and water. Whisk for 1 to 2 mins until sugar is incorporated into the oil and the mixture is smooth.
Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture, then stir just until combined and no more flour is visible.
Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper for easy handling. Fill an ice-cream scoop or measuring cup with about ⅔ of the mixture, and then place the dough onto one of the prepared sheets. Repeat with remaining dough, leaving several inches of space around each cookie.
Freeze the cookies on their pans for 30 mins, or up to 24 hrs in the refrigerator. (Optional)
When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Bake until the edges are just starting to turn golden, it should take about 14 to 17 minutes. Place the baking sheet on a cooling rack and repeat with remaining cookies.
3) At last, one of the all-around most time efficient and tastiest baked goods: Muffins! This recipe is both healthy, easy and delicious in all the ways a muffin should be. Definitely my favorite muffin recipe :)
30 mins! Serves 7-8 Easy & delicious
2 ½ cups old-fashioned oats (1.5 cups ground, 1 cup whole)
2 tbsp old-fashioned oats for muffin top
2-3 large overripe bananas (1 cup mashed or 1 cup applesauce)
2 large eggs (lightly beaten, may use flax eggs)
⅓ cup honey
¾ cup milk (or non-dairy milk)
2 tsp real vanilla (extract)
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit to toast oats.
Place oats on a baking sheet and toast until lightly browned, stirring once (about 4 to 6 min). Let the oats/it cool to room temperature.
Divide oats into portions of 1.5 cups,1 cup and 2 tbsp.
Turn oven heat up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to bake the muffins.
Place 1.5 cups of oats in a food processor and blend/pulse until they reach a rough, flour-like consistency.
Mash bananas well (they should have no lumps). I use my mixer to mash them before adding the other wet ingredients.
Add eggs, honey, milk and vanilla. Mix to combine.
Add dry ingredients (including the ground oats and 1 cup whole oats) to wet ingredients and mix until just incorporated. Allow these to sit for 10 minutes to soak the oats.
Optional: Fold in ½ cup fruit, raisins, or nuts.
Scoop muffin tin, well greased one lined with parchment muffin wrappers (makes 14 muffins).
Sprinkle muffin tops with the 2 tbsp of reserved oats, press lightly to make sure they stick.
Bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 20-30 mins. (Tops should spring back when lightly pressed and/or a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin should come out clean).
