Mr. B

Yewon Byun

Q. What are some highlights from your experience with the orchestra/music at AES?

A. Over the last few years, our end of the semester Concerts been getting better and better. All of the ensembles  ( Bands, Strings, Choirs) played and sang very technically challenging and musically beautiful pieces of music.

Q. What is something you would like to share with our community about music in general?

A. “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” - Plato

Q. Can you summarize music at our school in 3 words?

A. Joyful Pursuit of Excellence

Q. How did the string programs at our school develop since you were here?

A. All of the classes are bigger, the students are very engaged, the Strings are already official part of the ASIAC music festival ( hopefully soon part of MESAC as well), the quality of the ensembles allow me to introduce musical pieces which would've been dismissed as "way too hard," only three years ago.

Q. Are there any changes that you would like to see at our music department at AES?

A. One more (at least)  full-time music teacher, Music Appreciation Class (leading to IB Music), presenting the music talents of AES to a broader audience (concerts in some of the Delhi music halls), Rock Band, and music production classes.
